Team Rocket: Dressing Up Again!

The town was alive with music despite it being the dead of night, lights twinkling in unison with the stars as stalls littered the ground, miniscule compared to the towering buildings making up the majority of the area. People filled the streets, browsing the stalls to and fro whilst wearing a variation of outfits, mainly yellow and black striped ones with pointed ears. Ah yes, people had a tendency to dress up as Pikachu for Halloween.

You hummed, moving away from the candy stall with mild interest. Halloween celebrations were very different in this part of the region. Candy wasn’t collected from door to door by grinning children like it was back at home. Oh no, here it was viewed as more of a treat for Pokemon than people. So it custom to set up a variety of stalls selling various goods, mainly Halloween related. It was more fun in a way, as it could be enjoyed by everyone of any age. Heck, the elders seemed to be enjoying it more than anyone, hobbling along in their trainer costumes. Reliving their youths, you supposed.

The next stall was covered in trinkets, and a variety of bottle caps. Your heart clenched at the sight of them. Memories of your long lost childhood friend blossomed into view. Oh, how you missed him. ~

You sighed wistfully, turning away from the stall only to bump into someone.

“Oh g-goodness, I’m terribly sorry!” You squeaked, watching them shake their head in response.

“No no, it should be me apologising.” That was odd. You blinked, taking in their appearance. A long, puffy pink dress, pink and black striped socks with pink heels, long flowing white hair… They looked feminine, but their voice was anything from it. Huh. You missed the recognition that seemed to dance in their eyes. “Wait, [Name]?”

“Yeah, it’s m—Wait a minute.” You shot them a pointed look. “How do you know my name?”

They gasped loudly, eyes shining with unspilled tears. “[N-Name], it’s me!” They let forward, ushering you closer. Curiosity got the better of you and you did so. “James.”

Your eyes widened dramatically, and it was your turn to gasp. “J-James?” He nodded. “B-But… you’re dressed as a woman!” A colourful hue dusted his cheeks.

“Yes… well…” He rubbed the back of his neck nervously. “I’m surprised to find you here. I didn’t know you had moved?”

Ah, so he was changing the conversation. Fair enough. It was rude of you to press anyway, especially after not seeing the man for so long. You had so many questions for him, but clearly he did too.

“Yeah, I moved here a few years ago.” Shrugging, you turned back towards the stall, inspecting one of the objects. “What about you, eh? What have you been doing?”

It was silent for quite some time after your query. You had to turn your gaze every so often to make sure he was still there. When he did speak up, you heard the tone you had listened to constantly all those years ago.
“I’ve been busy with a group… Dealing with Pokémon and stuff.” His glance shot up from the floor as you laughed lightly, handing over the money for your purchase.

“You always did love Pokémon James, I told you you’d end up working with them. I bet they love you.~” A smile graced his lips, making your heart hiccup in response. Man, when did his smile go from goofy to gorgeous?

“They do, some more than usual.” He shivered, eliciting a raised eyebrow from you. “So how come you moved?”

Shrugging again you thanked the stall owner before heading off to your next destination, the distinctive clicking of heels echoing over the hustle and bustle. “I felt like change, you know? Home was never the same after you left.”

“Yeah, I’m still really sorry about that, [Name]--”

“We made a promise, James!” You hissed, wheeling around. People were turning to stare, but the only thing that existed right now was the cross-dressing man before you, eyes downcast.

“I know.” He sniffed, emerald eyes beginning to leak. “Did you think I would forget?” You huffed, turning and continuing your journey. You didn’t hear his footsteps follow.

“Whatever, James. Why don’t you go back to your fiancée, like you did last time?”

--

Another custom of the town was to hold a town wide party after the stalls dispersed. It was a chance for everyone to show off their costumes, basically.

You huffed for the fifth time that night, adjusting your dress before crossing your arms. Meeting your old best friend after years of separation wasn’t expected to end so… poorly. It should have been expected, really. James’ parents were wealthy whilst yours were the exact opposite. You should have known they wouldn’t approve of your friendship, of your pinky promise to remain together forever, no matter what. Naturally, they had him engaged to another. Naturally, you were distraught, even if at the time you didn’t understand what your feelings were. But as you matured, it became clearer how much you missed him, how much he meant to you…

It didn’t help that he grew up to be pretty damn attractive too, even if he was dressed more feminine than you.
A figure approached you, causing you to inwardly groan. No doubt another male trying to ask you to dance, and try to cop a feel in the process. Turning to tell them to get lost, your voice became lost in your throat as a familiar pair of eyes came into view.

“[Name]…” You had already stormed off, heading away from the happy crowds. This reunion was definitely not what you wanted, especially given the swelling of your heart. Stupid emotions. “[Name], please!”

“What?” You hissed, spinning around. There he was, looking as crestfallen as he did before.

“Please [Name], let me make up for the lost time.”

Wait, what?

You repeated the thought out loud, making him chuckle lightly, and shivers to race down your spine.

“You don’t think I regretted breaking our promise? Especially after how… “ His gaze traced up and down you, causing your shivers. “Pleasant you’ve become. ~ Oh [Name]!” He fell at your feet, practically whining. “Please, let’s rekindle what we had.”

“B-But--” You were at a loss for words. “But what about Jessebelle?” A smirk curved his lips, barely visible given his position.

“She’s not an issue, the only woman I need is you. ~” A shade of pink dusted your cheeks. James leapt onto his feet, somewhat gracefully given his attire. It made you wonder how often he did dress this way. “Now come on, let’s go.”

“Why should I?” He blinked before laughing merrily at your query. Oh, wow delightful the sound was.

“Because you didn’t need a poké ball to capture my heart.”

The stars themselves could be heard moving in the sky, given the silence than spanned on after his proclamation, until a snort and feminine laughter rained through the air, a masculine one soon joining it. Two sets of eyes met, both twinkling with joy and something else.

“Alright then.” You quipped, watching him extend his hand. “Let’s go reminisce, James.”

You took his outstretched hand, nimble fingers curling around his own. Just like old times.

“With pleasure, [Name], with pleasure.”

With that, you both headed off towards the party again, sharing fond memories and smiling all the while, hands never parting ways.

Who knew Halloween could lead to good things?

Update FTW.

What's this? An update? How absurd!

College is taking over again, which means my writing drive has come back full swing. It always comes back during college, it's bizarre.

Typing up a new Mayuri x Reader x Kenpachi story. It's AU, should hopefully be amusing, and I don't know how it's going to end.

I still need to type up the next chapter of TS, and TNGTP. The next chapter for it is Tyki centric, but I'm not sure how. Like, do I have it so he gives rea-chan a tour, so they go fishing or what? Hmm, decisions decisions.

Anyway, my friends are going off to University, so I had to say goodbye to them. I know I'll see them again, but I'm a clingy person who is paranoid everyone will get sick of me, so them moving away makes that fear worse. I know I can't keep them forever, but it aches, you know? That's probably why I get eager when my internet friends talk to me, because yeah.

Speaking of the internet and updates, someone actually emailed me for advice on their Earl x Reader fic. ME. I'm seriously the last person I thought anyone would email just for the sake of emailing, much less for an opinion on something. Hmm, I'm still in shock, pfft.

Anyway, that's it for now. I'll stick up a fanfic progress thing later. Ciao ~

It wasn't often that the feared Earl of Millennium was at a loss. Yet here he was, sat in his usual armchair trying to ignore the discussions of his family whilst recalling the night's events.

How exactly had you appeared on their doorstep? Clearly your mother knew of their location... But how? And who was she? He couldn't understand how he didn't remember. He only used women for certain purposes, so to father a child with one seemed impossible. He longed for a family of his own, for as much as he loved his current one, they weren't the same as having one physically, but he mused long ago women would flee at discovering what he really was, who he really was. Even if a child was made between them, the mother would take them away. So to have one here, within his home... It was mind boggling.

The Earl had checked up on you around ten minutes after you were taken away, ignoring the continuous outcries of his family. You were already out like a light, blankets tucked up to your chin and hair sprayed across the pillow. You were so small, so innocent and fragile, that he couldn't help the tears which stung his eyes. If your mother had willingly left you in the Noah's care, well, he could only imagine what horrors awaited you outside the manor's walls. After all, she had left you in the care of tyrannical monsters. Who exactly was worse than that?

Tears did spring from his eyes when you rolled over, knocking down the blankets to reveal two hand stitched crocodiles in your grasp. The startled gasp he released caused you to stir, so he left you in peace, and also to attempt to compose himself.

He was brought out of his thoughts by a familiar whine.

"Millennie. ~ What are we going to do with her?"

Earl blinked, casting an accusing look over the rim of his spectacles.

"Shouldn't you be in bed, Road? You have school in the morning. ~" She pouted, legs swinging off the armrest.

"But Millennie, this is important!"

"I am aware, but sleep is needed, for all of us." He shot a glance around the now silent room. Protests followed his statement, but were cut off by his raised tone. "We shall discuss this in the morning over breakfast." With that, he left, leaving the family stunned.

--

The sunlight was barely entering through the window when a loud yawn filled the room, followed by the shuffling of blankets and clothing. A satisfied huff emitted once the shuffling had ceased, and the door opened quickly before being closed with a snap, leaving the room in a content silence once more.

The usually quiet corridor outside the room became filled with light, cheerful humming, which echoed throughout it, reaching the vast staircase, flowing down into the foyer before halting as new sounds emitted from an adjacent door, which a large, strangely decorated room was situated behind. The sounds seemed to represent speech, varying from harsh whispers to eerie baritones. They too halted, however, when the door fully opened, slightly squeaking as it did so.

"Ah, we didn't think you would be up this early. ~" You blinked, glancing towards the source of the strangest voice. It was the man from before, the one who had welcomed you kindly into his home. He was wearing the hat again, only this time a different pretty decoration sat upon it. "Did you sleep well?"

You nodded, looking down at your feet. You didn't like the way the rest of the occupants in the room were staring at you. It almost looked like you were a delicious meal, rather than the food stacked onto the plates before them.

A chair screeched as it went backwards, and darkness covered your feet. You looked up, only to find the hat man kneeling before you. He looked as if he was still standing, given his vast height.

"It's okay. ~" His creaky voice was surprisingly soothing, with a cheery edge to it. "We won't hurt you. ~ Are you hungry?" You nodded, your stomach lightly grumbling. His permanent grin seemed to twitch at the sound. "Come on then. ~"

You happily followed the man, albeit hesitantly, saying thank you quietly when he pulled back a chair for you. You hopped onto it, seeing the plate in front of you covered in an assortment of food.

"We didn't know what you liked, so we put everything together." A new voice spoke up. It belonged to a rugged man with hair reaching his shoulders. He lazily glanced at you as he took a drag from his cigarette. You merely nodded in response.

"That's okay, thank you." Other people at the table seemed to exchange looks at this, before the man who had seen you last night coughed into his fist.

"My Lord, should we begin the introductions?" The hat man nodded at his words.

"Yes yes, of course. ~" He turned his attention to you, trying not to coo as you began eating some of the scrambled egg. "[Name], do you know why you were left here?"

You nodded, swallowing the food slowly. "Mum said she couldn't keep me safe anymore. She said the moo-stuche man was after me." The table exchanged looks once more, although this time it was accompanied by whispers. The hat man, however, merely blinked.

"Moo-stuche?" You nodded. "Do you mean moustache?"

"That's what I said, moo-stuche." You huffed, eating some more of the egg. "Mum said moo-stuche man is a bad man, that I'm safer with daddy and his family, so long as they don't make me a skin person, or something else."

"Skin person?"

"Mum says you take people and make them skin people. You make sad people happy, then they're sad again."

Silence followed your words for a long period, until the hat man spoke up again.

"That... Is true. Well [Name], you can stay." Your eyes lit up, even making Skinn feel slightly emotional.

"I can, really? Daddy doesn't mind?" The man chuckled.

"No, I don't." You gasped.

"Pwetty hat man is daddy?!" He chuckled again, nodding. "Wow, will I be that big someday then?" The atmosphere instantly darkened. Your father faced you, eye twitching.

"... Big?" You nodded, blissfully oblivious to your appending doom.

"Yeah, you're so tall! Will I be that tall?" Everyone breathed a sigh of relief, and he chuckled, rubbing your head affectionately.

"We'll see. ~" You grinned, and he felt his heart skip. "I'm daddy, but my name is Earl of Millennium. And this is your family. ~"

He gestured to everyone around the table, introducing them all. You smiled, thoroughly surprised at the number of them. You never knew you had so many Aunts, Uncles and cousins! Your mother didn't have anyone on her side of the family. It would be nice to have more people to play with.

Breakfast continued happily after that, and although most of the family seemed sceptical about the arrangement, they knew they would have to deal with it. It was the Earl's call after all, and given you were his daughter, he would be harder to deal with than usual.

Once breakfast was completed an assortment of servants cleaned up the mess, which fascinated you. Given the size of the house and all the staff, your daddy much have been wealthy. Your family were all dressed fancy too, and the decorations looked expensive. You realised your life here would be very different here. No more living on barely any food or few clothes, no more packing and unpacking, no more hiding or worries. You did hope mother was alright though, she seemed highly distraught when she left you on the doorstep.

"So [Name]." You peeked up at the Earl, thought process interrupted. "You shall spend your time doing different things with different family members. Given my job, and theirs, we won't always be around, but we'll try. ~" You smiled, nodding slightly.

"That's okay, I can't wait! It sounds fun!" Earl chuckled, grin twitching as he glanced down at you.

Oh yes, it would definitely be fun. ~
